Greetings and a warm welcome to the School of Commerce in the College of Law & Management Studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), one of the top ranked higher education institutions in Africa and among the top 2.5% in the global community of HEIs. The School of Commerce is a vibrant home to 7500 students of which 25% are at postgraduate level from diverse communities and nationalities. We draw our 140 academic staff from world-class research expertise across the University well equipped to provide you with state of the art commerce business education and business administration on equal pedestal with the best in the world. Our academics are committed to continuous curriculum and pedagogical renewal to keep pace with the ever evolving job market. We partner with companies for public lectures, factory visits, masterclasses, including broad participation of students in virtual integrated learning in some of our academic programmes. Our revamped professional services sector has more than 40 well trained and equipped staff who are agile and supportive of the academic project.
The School of Commerce at the University of KwaZulu-Natal emerged from the merger of two previously distinct Schools (School of Accounting Economics and Finance; and the School of Management, IT and Governance) to consolidate commerce degree programmes in one academic space. The school’s academic activities are linked to the broader University 2023-2032 transformative strategic plan and Project Renewal clarion call to action whose thrust is transitioning UKZN into University 4.0 and fostering academic excellence.
