
Lecturer
Dr Jenasha Tooray is an experienced and skilled academic, fulfilling numerous roles, from lecturer, internal and external examiner, moderator, supervisor to researcher, within the field of Marketing, since 2006. Dr Tooray is currently working on research publications to advance knowledge, particularly in the context of emerging economies and the unique challenges of the global climate crisis and pandemic-related consumer behaviour. Her primary areas of research interest include green food consumption/purchase intention/behaviour, green food marketing, social marketing, eco-conscious consumerism, young consumers and sustainable marketing.
Dr Tooray lectures the introductory Marketing module, which forms the critical foundation for students who want to major in Marketing Management. In addition, she lectures the Marketing modules at third-year level, namely: Consumer Behaviour and Special Topics in Marketing. Dr Tooray is student-centric, and the epitome of her pedagogical method is the metaphoric image of a gardener, as she sees herself as a lecturer and supervisor that is nurturing, caring, loving, supportive and encouraging. Dr Tooray’s teaching ideology centers on meticulously planning and preparing engaging and impactful lectures, harnessing the power of technology to create interactive learning experiences that cater to diverse student needs and promote academic excellence. Dr Tooray is also passionate about the environment and climate change mitigation, which aligns with her vegan lifestyle, and she hopes to educate young consumers about how they can reduce their carbon footprint and mitigate climate change through dietary changes, among other pro-environmental behaviours, consequently addressing SDG 3, SDG 12 and SDG 13, which are congruent with her research interests.
