Biography

Professor Sheunesu Zhou is an Associate Professor of Finance in the School of Commerce. His expertise lies in the areas of Financial Economics, Macroeconomics and Quantitative Analysis. Professor Zhou has comprehensive experience in higher education teaching, research, and academic leadership. His research focuses on financial economics, macroeconomics, development finance, and digital financial technologies, with a particular interest in financial risk management and economic development in emerging and developing markets.

In his previous roles, Professor Zhou served as an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Economics at the University of Zululand, where he supervised postgraduate students and led several departmental and institutional initiatives. He has published several research papers in peer-reviewed journals and presented his work at numerous national and international conferences. Professor Zhou is passionate about advancing financial inclusion and applying quantitative techniques such as econometric methods to real-world policy challenges. He continues to collaborate on multidisciplinary research projects and contribute to capacity-building efforts across the academic and broader society.
